Sometimes I write Poetry

Published August 28, 2010 by Charlotte

This poem has actually been published.  In some random poem book they wanted me to pay $40 for which of course I didn’t!  Lol!!

Mother Nature

I step out the front door

Feel the coolness against my skin

Right through the white, one pocket tee

I take a few steps

The breeze moves a small fraction of hair

I take a slow, deliberate, deep breath

Smell the pungent, dirty scent of early morning mother earth

I close my eyes and breathe her in

I hear birds chirping in my right ear

The tree leaves in my left

The sun touching my right side

My face feels warm and yet cool

I open my eyes and think…

This is what it means to be alive

I see the birds flittering tree to tree

The wind swaying with the flowers

I hear a distant car off to the left somewhere

My neighbors must all sleep in on Sunday

No one is afoot

I don’t want to die…
